Boys Junior National Program
In the second half of September, Epic forms traveling teams that will attend the season-ending Junior National Championships. They start practices in October, break at the end of January for the boys high school season, then start practicing again in June. In early July, they travel to the Junior Nationals, where they will be held in Reno, NV for 2013. The number of teams that Epic fields is determined by the number of participants who wish to play on Junior National traveling teams.
Teams consist of 11 to 12 players. Teams typically practice twice a week. Practices last for 2 or 2 1/2 hours. During the season, the teams attend numerous one-day tournaments, organized by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA), which take place in Los Angeles and Orange County. The SCVA also puts on three major tournaments: the 2-day Holiday Classic in December, the 3-day SCVA Invitational in January, and the 3-day Junior Boys Classic in June, all held in the Los Angeles area.
Age groups for these teams are:
18-17, seniors and juniors
16-15, sophomores and freshmen
14 & Under, middle school
The age definitions, as established by USA Volleyball (the National Governing Body of Volleyball in the U.S.), can be seen here: Age Definitions for Junior Volleyball

Boys Regional Program
In the second half of September, Epic forms traveling teams that will compete only in the Southern California region (the tryouts for Junior National teams and Regional teams are combined). These Regional teams do not go to the Junior National Championships. This program provides a substantial training season yet has fees that are much less than the Junior National program. The number of teams that Epic fields is determined by the number of participants who wish to play on Regional traveling teams.
Regional teams start practices in October and end their season in January, just before the boys high school season starts.
Teams consist of 11 to 12 players. Teams typically practice twice a week. Practices last for 2 or 2 1/2 hours. During the season, the teams attend one-day tournaments, organized by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA), which take place in Los Angeles and Orange County. They also participate in two major tournaments: the 2-day Holiday Classic in December and the 3-day SCVA Invitational in January. Both are held in the Los Angeles area.
Age groups for these teams are:
18-17, seniors and juniors
16-15, sophomores and freshmen
14 & Under, middle school
The age definitions, as established by USA Volleyball (the National Governing Body of Volleyball in the US), can be seen here: Age Definitions for Junior Volleyball

Boys 14 & Under Travel Teams
In the second half of September, Epic forms traveling teams for boys 14 & Under (8th grade & below) that compete in the Southern California region. There is no minimum age, but boys in this program will typically be in Middle School.
The age definitions, as established by USA Volleyball (the National Governing Body of Volleyball in the US), can be seen here: Age Definitions for Junior Volleyball
Teams normally have 10 or 11 players. The number of teams that Epic fields is determined by the number of participants who wish to play on 14 & Under traveling teams. No prior experience with competitive volleyball is necessary.
The season runs from December through June 1st. Teams practice twice a week, on average. Practices last for two hours. The boys will be able to participate in the Fall Training program for no charge until formal practices begin in December.
During the season, the teams attend numerous one-day tournaments, organized by the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA), which take place in Los Angeles and Orange County. They also have the option participate in four major tournaments: the 2-day Holiday Classic in December, the 3-day SCVA Invitational in January, and the 3-day Junior Boys Classic in June, which take place in Los Angeles and Orange County, and Boys Junior Nationals at the end of the season (these tournaments would entail additional fees and all parents would have to agree).

Boys Training Programs
Epic offers training programs in the fall, spring and summer for boys 14 and under who are interested in learning to play volleyball. The goal is to provide a fun experience that develops an interest in the sport.
These programs focus first on individual skills and then proceed to team-oriented training. They are a good starting point for boys interested in playing later in high school and on more advanced traveling club volleyball teams.
These programs run for 5 to 10 weeks. Practices are twice a week.
